Unfortunately, the dwindling market for traditional handicrafts has made life tough for these people. The Government of India established the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, a nonprofit organisation, to address this pressing need.

The mission of this council is to increase the competitiveness of India's handicraft exports via promotion, preservation, protection, and expansion. Members of the council have access to useful information that may be used to further improve and expand exports.

Functions of EPCH(Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts)

What is EPCH Registration?

In order to boost the country's handicraft exports, a non-profit called the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) was established. The council offers exporters with the required infrastructure, marketing and promotion, and incentives in order to comply with international standards and fulfil the demand for excellent handicrafts.

Artisans who wish to expand their business and export their products with ease and other necessary requirements need to register with the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts as a member. Thus, registering with EPCH as a member is known as EPCH Registration. After the successful procedure of EPCH Registration, you will get RCMC(Registration cum Membership Certificate).

Any Person, Hindu undivided family, Firm, AOP, Joint Stock company or other corporation or co-operative society even if they have NIL export performance can have EPCH Registration while engaging in the business of Export of handicrafts.

#5. To better prepare the local community and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) for exporting to global markets, the council routinely hosts workshops and seminars.

#6. EPCH monitors market trends and compiles export of handicrafts reports.

Types of Membership under Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts

There are three categories of membership for EPCH Registration:

#1. Merchant Exporter
Businesses who buy handicrafts from the manufacturer and sell them to the clients abroad must have EPCH Registration as Merchant Exporter.

#2. Manufacturer Exporter
Manufacturer Exporter means a person who manufactures Handicrafts and exports or intends to export such Handicrafts.

#4. Copy of partnership deed (if the company is a partnership firm

#5. Attested copy of the list of partners mentioned on the letterhead of the company (if the company is a partnership firm

#6. A photocopy of certificate of incorporation (Memorandum of Article of Association) and resolution deed regarding the signing authority (if the company is a private limited or a limited liability company

#7. Copy of Export House Certificate

#8. GST Registration details and a copy of GSTIN number

#9. Demand draft issued as registration fee in favour of EPCH

You can revoke your membership at any time by submitting a written request to the Council for cancellation of your membership and returning your original Registration-cum-Membership-Certificate (RCMC) issued by the Council, along with a consent letter signed by the Proprietor/all Directors/all Partners of the company on letterhead (RCMC).

EPCH Registration Membership renewal is on a financial year basis, which is due on  Ist April every year.

 

You must cancel your previous IEC number with the DGFT and provide a copy of the cancellation letter, in addition to your original RCMC, if you want to use a new IEC number to update your RCMC.
